USING VISUALS TO COMMUNICATE A MESSAGE Introduction Think of an analog watch placed on the glass display of a famous shop. The color of the dial is white with black hands and a silver crown. The calendar window is also black and the hours are carved in silver. The case is silver with a tint of rainbow. The brand logo mark, Hyphen, is carved in Electric Blue colour. The strap is also Electric Blue. So, you have got the image in your mind, but not exactly. Now, look at some of the things that can help in making a better image of this watch. You would agree that these visual enhancements have helped in bringing out a better image of the watch we just discussed in words. USING VISUALS TO COMMUNICATE A MESSAGE and the logo shown in very stylish way. When all these media elements will combine together, the meaning of the product, i.e. watch will certainly change noticeably and have numerous positive effects on the customer's’ perception about the product. Also, each media element has its own meaning and impact on the the audience and when more more than one are used mutually, the purpose of delivering content and functionality is fulfilled more comprehensibly (Smith, 2014). For this paper, we will choose three media elements, (i) text, (ii) audio, and (iii) images and will discuss the rationale behind choosing each of the three media elements. We will explain why the media elements contained in our Final Project deliver the message we intended to communicate and what is basically the intent of the message itself. During our discussion, we will apply a minimum concepts from the course material to support our choice of media elements as well. Media Elements The use of multimedia is very important in advertising and product communication. Think of an advertising where the customer is only told what is the product or the brand and what specifications it contain but he cannot see what he intends to buy. Then, consider a situation where the product details are signified through attractive text in an ad, such as in print media.
