She was known for deep, expressive contralto vocals and her eclectic mix of musical genres, including soul, sometimes being labeled as blue-eyed soul and neo-soul, rhythm and blues, and jazz. In 2008 the song “Love is a losing game” won the Best Song Musically and Lyrically. The song “Love is a losing game” considers that love is a game, and she is losing at it.
