Upon reading the Better Horizon letter (Figure 9.6), I noticed that several psychological tools that were used to promote breast cancer awareness. First, I noticed that the letter had some likeness to it. Liking in this letter refers to persuading others for a reason or a cause. For example, Betty Williams was the first to donate after she was a breast cancer survivor. After the use of her name, Betty Williams started the foundation. People generally donate if there is a name associated with the cause. Reciprocation was another psychological influence that is used in the letter. Reciprocation is one favor for another. Have you ever donated blood? When you donate, the blood bank gives you money, T-shirts, vacations, etc. This year Lifeline Blood Bank is having a drawing where you can register to win a four-wheeler from Bob’s House of Honda. Another characteristic the letter portrayed was consistency. Consistency is to honor or follow a commitment. The Betty Williams Breast Cancer Center was in honor of her surviving breast
