According to Ferber, Jimenez, O’Reilly Herrera & Samuels (2009), t he concept of homosexuality started in the late nineteenth century and between 1820-1860, there was only two gender: Man and woman. Men were the providers and women the caregivers and During this time sex was used for procreation only between a man and woman under marriage. Same sex was a sin. In the late nineteenth century, there were a few social factors that contributed to shift from what was expected and appropriate for men and women at that time. Sex became a way for pleasure for both men and women and changing the way the human body was perceived: From procreation to pleasure. Homosexual was referred to an erotic feeling for the same sex. (Ferber et al, 2009, pp 38). We are all given a label when we are born based on our biological sex, either male or female and Society expects us to behave accordingly. We as part of society teach our boys to be males by assuming a gender role.
