Section B: Knowledge Activity (Q & A) Objective: To provide you with an opportunity to show you have the required knowledge for this unit. The answers to the following questions will enable you to demonstrate your knowledge of: List sources of information for own organisation’s products and competitors’ products Explain why it is important to discuss features, benefits, strengths and weaknesses when describing products Summarise industry competitors, including products offered and potential buyer markets Outline organisational policies and procedures, relevant to the sales process Outline the key provisions of relevant legislation, regulations, standards and codes of practice that are relevant to the sales process. Answer each question in as much detail as possible, considering your organisational requirements for each one. 1. List three sources of information that could be used to build knowledge of your own organisation’s products and those of competitors. Answer; - Search engine - Speak with supervisors or specialists - Speak with suppliers. 2. In no more than 150 words, explain why it is important to discuss features, benefits, strengths and weaknesses when describing products. Answer; Product or service weaknesses could be identified in a similar way to recognising strengths, such as by speaking with colleagues and looking at feedback from customers; if they were to say that a product is not very durable and tends to wear down within a short space of time, this would be considered as a weakness. Another method of identifying weaknesses could be through holding a meeting between the work team. You could look at various aspects of the product and discuss how it could be improved. This should involve looking at the features which were outlined in the previous chapter, such functionality and aesthetics.
