Patrycja Jerzak Prof. Derek Johnson ECON-1202 2/30/2018 Chapter Report “The Angry Oracle Called Karl Marx” This paper will look at Karl Marx’s life and works through the book “New Ideas From Dead Economists.” Karl Marx was born in 1818 in Trier, Germany. Marx was sort of a troublemaker in his younger ages, while still living home he usually terrorized his younger sisters and also became a big problem to his father during his college years, thus to the fact that Karl was a heavy drinker during that time and wasted a lot of his father's money. He began his college years at University of Bonn where he studied law, after that he was transferred to University of Berlin where he studied philosophy. Although he never submitted his final thesis to the University of Berlin, he made a choice of instead sending it to the University of Jena from where he actually in the end got his doctorate. Later on, Marx moved to Paris together with his wife Jenny von Westphalen, where he began going into the depth and discovering communism. That is also, where he began writing his first revolutionary economics work, which in the end resulted in that he was deported from Paris and and moved to Belgium. The two famous works, which changed the world, written by Marx were “The communist Manifesto” and “Capital”. (Buchholz 116-120)” Marx’s economic ideas grew from how bad the capitalist treated the working class, or the proletarians, as he called them.
