A man by the name of Elihu Katz came up with the Use & Gratification theory. It was a theory that investigated why people use certain media. Katz came up with 8 main reasons why people look at media. These 8 reasons were passing time, companionship, escape, enjoyment, social interaction, relaxation, information, and excitemen t. I think these reasons are very accurate. I know personally I use media because some of these reasons. Recently I had to turn this assignment in called Personal Media Diary we just copied down all the media we used. Many times, I checked my phone to get on social media to get information . Social media is the fastest way to get current news for me.
