Immigration can be influenced by many factors such as living conditions in one’s own country, flee from government, or to just simply live a better life. Push and pull factors play a big role in why a person decides to leave their homeland and which homeland they choose. In the film push factors that were evident were poverty and increase in job loss. Pull factors to the United States was the idea that a better life of job opportunities and security awaited. I think a positive economic climate attracts immigrants. However, when the economy is down and the job market is going down, the people of the country sometime use immigrants as scapegoats and say things such as, “they’re taking all of our jobs.” Even today, I’ve even heard the President refer to Mexican immigrants as rapist and make reference to them stealing jobs.
