Carolyn Luther Topic 1 Discussion Question #1 January 23, 2019 Recall a time when you met someone with a different worldview than yours, and you had a difficult time relating. 1. What challenges did you have relating to that person? 2. How might an understanding of the other's worldview have helped you in that situation? Dealing with someone else with other beliefs than what you believe can be difficult at times. I am a Christin and I believe in God. I put God as my number one. One of the students who graduated high school with me was atheist. She believed that there wasn’t a such thing has God or higher power. One challenge that I faced with this person was that when things would get rough or we would stress over a test, I would tell her to have faith in God and say a quick prayer prior. After I would get finish saying that, she would give me an eye roll and tell me that there is no such thing as God. A lot of peers “picked on her” because of the clothing that she wore, and what she believed. If I would have had an understanding on different worldview’s and their meanings, I would have tried to understand her stand point instead of just assuming that she was “crazy” and didn’t know about life. Also, another worldview that was known at my high school was believing that there were multiple God’s. Response #1: Wednesday My mother-in-law is Mormon. I have had her sit down and explain it to me and the difference between Mormon and Christianity. While I was growing up, I was very much involved in bible school, choir, and every church event at my church. I grew up in a Baptist church. At first thought, I was wondering why my
