Graham Clark when talking about the photograph says, “The attempt to record and fix a permanent
image was seen as almost magical.” This goes right along with Sam Abell who talks about when taking a
photograph, he does the setting first and the subject second. Sam Abell’s experience with photography is
magical, starting with traveling with his family and the slide shows from his father to working for
National Geographic and traveling the world. He had the opportunity to put into still picture the world
around us. Something that may only be there for an instant, but is now captured on still picture for the
world to appreciate, study, contemplate, and consider. I love when he talks about people taking seeing
for granted. Think of all the little things we miss out on because we just want to get through life. We miss
the experiences like wat Abell had when photographing
