ABORTION 2 Abortion within Context of Ethics Clinical ethics is a cognitive aspect of moral philosophy and helps to address conflicts in clinical duties and obligations which moral issues and ethical outcomes regarding need for abortion. Therefore, physicians have to justify abortion through medical interventions or ethical lens based on the choices that will be made. With that in mind, abortion can also be argued from patients’ perspective when faced with adversities and suffering, as based in the case study involving Deb and Derek. The case study emphasizes on abortion through an ethical lens concerning the choices of Derek and Deb. Two normative approaches to clinical approaches will be applied to argue why abortion should be allowed employing example from the case study provided. These approaches include the utilitarianism and the virtue. According to the preference of the patient, couples can seek abortion when faced with health and life dilemmas. This is well elaborated in the case study where the ultrasound results suggested that Derek and Deb were going to have a child with physical challenges due to the Down syndrome.
