1. What is big data, and what opportunities and challenges does it provide for marketers? Big Data is an extremely large data sets that analyzes computationally to disclose trends, patterns, and associations. This helps companies to stir up and find marketing information in great quantities. Companies that can reach this big data can effectively gain rich, timely customer insights. However, accessing too much data could be an alarming move. 4-2. What is a marketing information system (MIS), and what characteristics should it possess? (MIS) is a system that analyses and assesses information needs, and helps decision makers to gather information continuously from sources inside and outside an organization. Characteristics are an internal data base, marketing intelligence, marketing research. 4-3. Name and describe the three types of research objectives and give an example of a research study for each. Exploratory Research - Marketing research to gather preliminary information that will help define problems and suggest hypotheses.
