AP US History Chapter 26- The Great West and the Agricultural Revolution, 1865-1896 pg. 633-668 IDENTIFICATIONS: Briefly identify in one to two sentences the term and its impact. Indian Territory – An area where Native American were moved to and form their own society. This is important because those tribe that lives in that live in this territory supplied troops to confederate army prior to this time period, and during this period white government is trying to remove the Indian culture completely. reservation system – the system of which the government give land to Native American and only allows them do activities within the boundary. Sometimes government will use violence to force Native American to move to the reservation are which shows the unfair treatment that were given to the Native American. Sand Creek Massacre – Chivington killed over 400 Indians when the gold miners and the Native Americans got into a conflict in Colorado. This proofs that Native American were as a disadvantage and were controlled by whites.
