Antonio Garcia 8/13/2018 01.05 Economics and Slavery WHY DID SLAVERY START IN THE COLONIES: The demand of cotton and tobacco was slowly increasing however, indentured servants were finishing their contracts. The colonists needed more workers on the field and at home so the began to rely on slave trade. HOW WERE SLAVES BROUGHT TO THE COLONIES: Slave were brought to there colonies in ships that traveled across the Atlantic Ocean, hence the transatlantic slave trade. Goods such as rum and weapons were traded in west Africa for slaves. WHAT TYPES OF JOBS DID SLAVES DO IN EACH COLONIAL REGIONS (NEW ENGLAND< MIDDLE< SOUTHERN) : In the new England and Middle colonies, most worked as butlers, groom carpenters ,weavers, and stonemasons.
