Define the following words and answer the questions (complete sentences) a. nitrogen fixation: Nitrogen fixation is a process in which nitrogen in the atmosphere is converted into ammonia. b. Nitrification: Nitrification is the biological oxidation of ammonia or ammonium to nitrite followed by the oxidation of the nitrite to nitrate. c. decomposition and excretion: Decomposition is the state or process of rotting; decay. Excretion is the process of eliminating or expelling waste matter. d. Ammonification: Ammonification or Mineralization is performed by bacteria to convert organic nitrogen to ammonia. e. Denitrification: Denitrification is the process of nitrate reduction (performed by a large group of anaerobic bacteria) that produces nitrogen through a series of nitrogen oxide products.
