Comments When Scoring Essays Constructive Comments 1) Unable to find your thesis statement at all in your intro 2) Does not have obviously locatateable textual evidence in your body paragraphs 3) Your paragraphs do not have clear topic sentences 4) You do not introduce your sources, or clearly indicate where evidence is coming from when used 5) There is not a clear progression of ideas- meaning I can’t tell as a reader where your beginning, middle and end of the essay is. 6) You need to use more textual evidence- there is not enough in your paragraphs. When you write a body paragraph, it should have about 2 pieces of textual evidence per paragraph. 7) You have quotes, but their purpose for inclusion is not explained. Remember, the score category is called Evidence and elaboration . 8) Proofreading is essential for you, as there are some careless errors in readability 9) You have some sentences that tend to run on, and therefore lose some of their understandability.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
