Brett Foley ENVS 10 Professor Bacigalupi 15 September 2016 Great Barrier Reef Scientific Analysis Citation Method: De’ath G, Fabricius KE, Sweatman H, Poutinen M. 2012. The 27-year decline of coral cover on the Great Barrier Reef and its causes. PNAS. 109(44):17995-9. Objectives/Hypothesis: The research in this article is centered around the Great Barrier Reef and more specifically the coral coverage. Scientists believe that the coral reefs in the Great Barrier Reef have greatly declined within recent years. The three main objectives of this research is to determine the physical patterns and dynamics of the coral cover throughout the Great Barrier Reef, clearly establishing all of the causes of the death the coral through observations and concrete data analysis, and to distinguish the hopeful possibilities to regrow coral in the Great Barrier Reef back to its original state. In simpler terms the hypothesis/objectives is to identify the issue and establish knowledge as well as a plan to restore the famous reef population.
