Section IIntroductionChesapeake IT Consultants (CIC) was founded in 2004. CIC is a successful consultingservices firm for information technology. CIC serves small to mid-tier businesses, nonprofitorganizations, and governmental agencies with a high level of talented IT consultants that deliverdedication and IT solutions when problems occur. CIC has the need and want to grow, they areexpected to take on two large contracts in a few months. Through the increased demand, CICmust increase the number of highly-skilled consultants they employ nationally andinternationally. Today’s recruiters are spending an average of 23 hours screening resumes for justa single position and 88% of those applicants can be unqualified which causes a longer wait onthe hiring process (Min, 2017). CIC faces an enormous challenge of quickly bringing on 75 newconsultants. In addition, the HR Department will struggle significantly to achieve this task in thetimeframe provided due to CIC’s current manual hiring processes. The purpose of this paper is todesign an analysis of CIC’s challenges, discuss a set of system essentials and requirements, anddemonstrate a new IT solution.A.Strategic Use of TechnologyCIC has a durable desire to provide astonishing consulting services to both its current andfuture clients (Chesapeake, 2017).CIC is in a competitive market the goal is to capitalize ontheir upcoming development and make changes in a short timeframe. CIC needs to focus onmaking strategic decisions and keeping themselves abreast of new business concepts andtechnology (Chesapeake, 2017). It is important that CIC has qualified consultants and that amanual hiring system does not hold the company back from progress. In order for CIC tosucceed, the company should adopt an off-the-shelf software with the option for customization,
as it is generally less expensive than building a fully custom software program (Bourgeois,2014). This software will help make the HR departments have a more efficient hiring method.This new software will streamline and decrease the amount of time and money it takes to hire anew employee. A database will be created that will track skilled consultants who can be reviewedand hired at any time.B.Competitive AdvantageHiring practices can be one of the most important factors to a company and their success.Human resource is critical to maintaining and gaining competitive advantage (Schuler &MacMillan, 1984). CIC will advance their competitive advantage by having the ability to reviewand hire employees quickly. This option will keep qualified applicants in their grasps before theyget hired from other companies. Furthermore, a new hiring system will assist in eliminatingcandidates who are not qualified for the consultant position. This application will also trackcurrent employees and their skills and certifications, which will help place employees in the right
