World war was battled over the issues caused by different races thus determining the position of blacks in America. The winners of the war were the union thus leading to the freeing of the slaves. President Lincoln created some hope for the oppressed but and still there were challenges which came with the freedom. For the decades that followed, the African-Americans faced something far worse than slavery, plagued with the threats of being lynched. This paper shades light on the Chicago race riot of 1919, focusing on its causes, unique features and the impact it brought to the world today.
