OCE 2001 - Oceanography - Online Plate Tectonics Lab written by Bruce Dubendorff Plate tectonics is the most important theory in solid Earth Science. It explains so many features of the Earth from locations and types of earthquakes, volcanoes, and other mountains to mid-ocean ridges, subduction zones, collision zones, and transform faults. To understand the oceans an understanding of plate tectonics is needed. You should know the following terms before you start the lab: continental drift, plate tectonics, divergent boundary, convergent boundary, transform boundary, mid-ocean ridge, seafloor spreading, trench, and subduction. If you do not already know those terms from reading the chapter and studying the notes, you are not ready to do the lab. Directions for this lab: This lab consists of 3 videos on the Earth's Interior, Continental Drift, and Plate Tectonics. You need to watch the three videos and answer the questions given. Most of the questions are fill in the blank but there are also true-false questions and some short essays questions. 1) Before you do the lab you should read about Plate Tectonics in the book and look at the Plate Tectonics Notes so you have a basic understanding of plate tectonics. 2) Note that my comments are in italics. These are comments that are not in the videos but that I have added to clarify the topic being discussed. 3) Also some time bench marks are given with a time followed by a topic. They are italicized and underlined. These may help you find your place in the videos. 4) Underlined, bold, and green areas for fill in the blank questions are already underlined, bold, and green . Just type in the . . and your answer will automatically be underlined, bold, and green . It is like this: . 5) Download the lab, save the last 3 pages to a file with a name of the form "PT Lab your name" as the name of the file, cut and paste each of the video urls into a web browser, watch each video and answer the questions for that video, save the file , and place it in the appropriate Dropbox in PAL.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
