Punishment occurs if the consequences of an action/behavior make the action less likely to occur in the future. Skinner Box for rats has 3 components. - A lever, so the rat can make a response - A mechanism to feed the rat, when the lever is pressed, the rats get fed. - A cumulative recorder – drum with paper on it with a pen to record when the rat presses the lever Continuous reinforcement – every time the action is executed it is rewarded
