Martinez 1 Christina Martinez Module 3: Discussion 2 English Comp 102 February 7, 2019 The Accident 2005 In the short story “The Accident”, I felt that a lot of emotions, fear and loneliness: “He knows your name and you know his, and you almost killed him and, because you got so close to doing so but didn’t, you want to fall on him, weeping, because you are so lonely, so lonely always, and all contact is contact, and all contact makes us so grateful we want to cry and dance and cry and cry.” (Dave 89) The image I had reading this story was that in society any accident is perceived as a negative outcome. When he first thinks of the situation he thinks he will be confronted with anger: “Walking to the car, which you ruined, it occurs to you that if the three teenagers are angry teenagers, this encounter could be very unpleasant.” (Dave 89) As he walks over to the Camaro, the three teenagers exit the car through the passenger door to inspect the damage. He is expecting the driver to be furious with him but he wasn’t. He felt a
