INTRODUCTORY PARAGRAPH 2 Introductory Paragraph Epidemiology The field of epidemiology is primarily concerned with the scientific study of how diseases or health issues often occur in various groups and why it happens. The information gathered through epidemiological studies is used to support planning and assessing the effectiveness of the strategies that are put in place to prevent illness. At the same time, to guide the management of patients who are already affected by the disease (Szklo & Nieto, 2014). Just like it is with pathology and clinical results, the epidemiology of any given disease is a critical part of its primary description, which is needed for proper decision-making.
