Why was Gettysburg a turning point in the war?
one of the few times they went out and sought a battle and played offense. This change in strategy is perhaps what lead to the downfall of the Confederate army, supporting the statement that Gettysburg was the turning point in the civil war. Another supporting statistic is the number of casualties in the battle of Gettysburg.
