INITIAL PUBLIC OFFERINGS 2 Initial Public Offerings The role of investment bankers and underwriters of an Initial Public Offering (IPO) is to analyze the firm's financial position in order to sell shares to investors to create working capital for the company. Because the investment banker’s role is significant in exhibiting the firm’s ability to go public, leadership will research reputable investments banks/bankers to reduce the potential risks associated with an IPO. Investments bankers working for top investment banks are well educated in accounting, economics, and business finance. Investments Bankers create the firm’s prospectus that includes the firm’s business strategy, plans for the raised funds, and the IPO terms. The prospectus created by the investment banker also provides risk data, biographies of the firm’s leadership, and financial statements and notes. The
