Zach Pruski Reflections 6/25/07 Assignment 1. Two self practices that seem most important to me and most important to succeed are “To practice self-acceptance” and “To practice self-assertiveness”. In both of these ways am I able to respect myself and to show my colors as they are and not in someone else’s view. I can be who I really am and be happy with it. For me to practice self acceptance is sometimes frustrating. Due to a long line of catastrophic events in my life, I have evolved into having a very direct personality. I am the person who a friend can come to for an honest opinion and unequivocal advice. For instance, I was voted “Most Dependable” my senior year in high school. But it is sometimes frustrating meeting people for the first time. I come off with a very strong personality not holding back my opinions beliefs and thoughts. Given the chance, I am one of the most understanding and willing persons for a friend. I am always generous and am a lifeline for friends. I believe this is important in being me because there is no misunderstanding in who I am. Another very important builder of self-esteem for me is to practice self- assertiveness. I am confident enough in my ability to be who I am. I have engaged in so many different activities that I feel comfortable around a variety of people. Bull riding, boxing, high school band, rock and country music bands and even a hunting guide are all some of the hats I have worn. With these skills and learned attributes, anyone can see why I have such a strong personality. It is because I am very comfortable with
