COURSE CCMN304 SECTION YBA CAREER ADVANCEMENT COMMUNICATION COURSE OUTLINE FOR Spring 2016 INSTRUCTOR: Kathy Voltan INSTRUCTOR PHONE: 2752 INSTRUCTOR E-MAIL: [email protected] COURSE PREREQUISITES: None The Chang School Office Hours: Monday to Thursday – 8:00am – 7:00pm Friday – 8:00am – 4:30pm Saturday – 8:15am – 1:15pm (closed July and August) Every effort will be made to manage the course as stated. However, adjustments may be necessary at the discretion of the instructor. If so, students will be advised and alterations discussed in the class prior to implementation. It is the responsibility of students to ensure that they understand the University’s policies and procedures, in particular those relating to course management and academic integrity. A list of relevant policies is included at the end of this outline. COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course aims to develop the communication skills and strategies necessary to meet the challenges of the current workplace. With particular focus on the job search and career development, course content covers such topics as research and interviewing, persuasive writing and speaking, developing a professional image and making effective communication decisions. Lab: 3 hours. COURSE OBJECTIVE/LEARNING OUTCOMES:  To develop the communication skills and strategies necessary to meet the challenges of the  contemporary workplace.
