1 Rhaven Green Dr. Mack ENGL 1102 January 30, 2019 “Shooting an Elephant” Honestly, I feel that the pressure of all of the Burmans watching Orwell and the elephant was just one of the many conflicts in this story. The reason being is because everyone was watching him even harder since he had the rifle in his hands. It was kind of a tough decision that Orwell had to make. He did not really want to kill the elephant, so he had to think of reasons that would back him up if he did. He kept asking the people that was there before him, how the elephant was acting to justify his actions. If he did not kill the elephant then he will feel like he disappointed the Burman and that he did not satisfy their needs. If Orwell did kill the elephant then he would be helping the Burmans by helping them get some meat from the animal. Another thing is that the whole Burman tribe was watching Orwell the whole time while he approached the elephant.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
