Section 1: Purpose/Introduction The purpose of this experiment was to use our knowledge of ohm's law in order to calculate what the resistance should be going through a particular resistor and compare it to the actual resistance we got. As V increases so does the I in the equation below however as R increases I decreases. I = V R (1) Where R is the resistance of a wire or other device, V is the potential difference across the device, and I is the current that flows through it. We first set the decade box to a resistance of 200 and 500 and recorded the value.
