Fall 2016 PHY 215 Lab Report: Guidelines Report Requirements Format (10%) Title Page must contain a) Name of the experiment b) Course and section number c) Group Number d) Student names (listed in alphabetical order - no signatures on this page) e) Date experiment was conducted f) The lab report must contain the Title Page, all four sections listed below plus the original, signed, data sheet in the appendix. g) Scoring Section Provide a space for the instructor to place the score earned next to the maximum score allowed for each section plus a space for inserting the total score/group grade for that lab. Purpose and Introduction (~ 0.5 to 1.5 pages, single spaced) (10%) Describe the purpose of the experiment and present a brief background of the main physics ideas. Do notcopy the instructions word-for-word! Reference your lab instructions and other sources. Refer to your references in the text using numbers (e.g. [1]). Include important equations relevant for the analysis of your data. Include diagrams of physics concepts were appropriate. Use an equation editor and number each equation as shown below. Each equation is a new line and has a number on the right. Describe each variable in any equation that you include.
