This class is designed to help you appreciate the scientific side of psychology and dispel common myths about psychology and human behavior. The class will cover many subfields within the broader realm of psychology, such as research methods; biological bases of behavior; learning; intelligence; stress and health; personality; psychological disorders and therapy; and social psychology. At the end of the course, you should be able to: 1. Understand the scientific methods used in psychology, as well as the biological and environmental influences on behavior. 2. Critically examine scientific claims and dispel common myths about the field 3. Apply to everyday life the information you learn about the various subfields of psychology.
