Respiratory AlterationsPosta description of the disorder and underlying respiratory alteration associated with the type of cough in your selected scenario. Then, explain the pathophysiology of the respiratory alteration. Finally, explain how the factors you selected might impact the disorder. The scenario depicts Maria, a 36-year-old female presenting for an evaluation of a cough.Normally, she is insignificant for any medical history; however, approximately 3 weeks ago she developed a lingering cough. She denies rhinorrhea and fever, but does have a persistent cough. Maria has coughing spells, deep and persistent coughs and productive green sputum. The cough keeps her awake at night and sometimes gets so bad that she gags and dry heaves. After reviewing the scenario, Maria diagnosis would be acute bronchitis.Acute bronchitis is an acute infection or inflammation of the airways or bronchi, often second to viral infections (Huether & McCance, 2017). Bronchitis is an inflammation of the bronchial tubes, the airways that carry air to your lungs (Medline Plus, 2017).
