Procrastination Response Paper
In the Ted Talk, ¨Inside the Mind of a Master
Procrastinator,¨ Tim Urban explains how he always turned in paper assignments late that were
given by professors. A procrastinator has different thoughts in the brain than a non procrastinator.
A procrastinator lives
life in the moment instead of planning for everything. Tim names the part
of the the brain that searches only for satisfaction and pleasure, the monkey. The monkey does
not want to accomplish anything that is difficult and that is not in his best interest. The monkey
takes the easy way out and makes the important tasks his last priority. Tim brings up the other
topic about the rational decision maker who searches for evidence that seems right. The rational
decision maker has the important tasks be his first priority and plans ahead for the future. The
panic monster is when the deadline is near and the task has not been started, so the fear kicks in.
