Types of Mixture Lab Report Template Title (1 pt): Types of Mixtures Introduction: Purpose (1 pt) The purpose of this experiment is to identify and categorize the mixtures. The purpose is to determine the separation of electric charge of the matter with same uniform. Introduction: Background Research (3 pts) 1) The difference between a heterogeneous mixture and a homogeneous mixture is that in a homogeneous mixture, the particles are the same throughout(uniformly). Only one phase of matter in homogeneous can be seen. Heterogeneous mixtures have particles that are completely mixed and all of the particles can be seen. Ex. of homogeneous: mixture of alcohol and water. Ex. of heterogeneous: mixture of sodium chloride and sand. 2) ¨A suspension differs from a solution because the particles of a suspension are much larger and do not stay suspended indefinitely¨ (pg 504). ¨Colloids have particles smaller than those in suspensions and larger than those in solutions¨ (pg 505). A solution and Colloids both have particles in a mixture. The particles are spread out. 3) The difference between the ¨solute¨ and the ¨solvent¨ is that a ¨solute¨ has particles that are dissolved in a solvent. A ¨solvent¨ is the substance that is dissolving the particles.
