Unformatted text preview: Origins Reflection Austin Egnew 7/8/2018 CWV-101 Jeff Jibben Creation Account From Genesis 1-2 • ”In the beginning, God created the Heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1) • Earth had no form and was filled with darkness • “And God said, let there be light: and there was light” (Genesis 1:3) • First day, God divided the waters and created the sky • Second day, God gathered the waters under the sky in one place • “God called the dry land Earth….the waters called he Seas” (Genesis 1:10) Creation Account From Genesis 1-2 • God then created the grass and trees with fruit • Third day, God created the sun and moon to divide night and day • He created the stars ”for signs, and for seasons, and the days, and years” (Genesis 1:14) • Fourth Day, God created the animals of the Sea and air • Fifth Day, God created the animals of the Land • Sixth day, God saw that everything he created was good Creation Account From Genesis 1-2 • ”And on the seventh day God ended his work…” (Genesis 2:2) • ”Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground” (Genesis 2:7) • “Lord God planted a garden eastward of Eden; and there he put man who he had formed” Genesis (2:8) • Plants, trees, tree of life, and tree of knowledge of good and evil grow in garden • Four rivers flowed through the Garden; Pison, Gihon, Hiddekel, and Euphrates Creation Account From Genesis 1-2 • God commanded man to eat of all the trees except the tree of knowledge of good and evil • God created the animals of the Garden for Adam to tend to • Adam named the animals and tended to the garden • God made Adam fall asleep and took one of his ribs • “and the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman” (Genesis 2:22) • Adam took the woman as his wife Personal Beliefs About the Origins of the Universe • I believe that the universe was created by a spiritual energy un-relational to our everyday lives. • The earth and our universe was probably created by a big bang cause by this spiritual energy • After Earth was created, life began to grow on the surface as natural occurrences happen like rain and wind • God is everything Personal Beliefs About the Origins of the Universe • Evolution and creation of life took a while, did not over a few days or months • Cycles of life (Dinosaurs, Humans, etc.) • Aboriginal people were the first humans on Earth, Garden of Eden could've happened after • Humans were created to evolve and discover and find ones purpose • Humans are good but we can be easily corrupted Personal Beliefs About the Origins of the Universe • Our universe is not the only universe with advanced species in it • Jesus and other people thought of as saviors were people born with supernatural powers probably due to enlightenment of the mind body and soul at master levels • I think that when we die, our spirit is reborn as something or someone else How My Beliefs About Origins Impact My Worldview • People have a purpose and that purpose is to find themselves through enlightenment and self-evaluation • Most people are good but are easily persuaded into corruption if not wise and lacks knowledge • Everything is connected to one another and serves a purpose for one thing or another How My Beliefs About Origins Impact My Worldview • Finding wisdom and knowledge especially of the self can lead to happiness • I see People are afraid to go out of their comfort zones to find answers for themselves • When one refuses to evaluate their situations, they repeat unhealthy behaviors How My Beliefs About Origins Impact My Worldview • Evaluating ones self leads to self-worth (Waddell, 2017) • Finding a purpose can help increase self-worth, which will increase happiness • Work helps find ones purpose in the physical universe, which increases self-worth • When one does not understand their purpose/worth they become resentful References Waddell, J.
