MEMORANDUM Date: February 10,2019 T0: [email protected] FROM: Navjot kaur, COO SUBJECT: Recommendations for functional communication with Japanese Our company is going to start business with large trading-based company in japan. Since our cultures are different from one another, its pivotal that we see each other's way of life. Its essential that we learn how to treat each other and appropriately show respect. Globalizations is very important for business to expand. To do business internationally, it is important for our company to understand international culture to communicate effectively and avoid any misunderstanding. During last meeting with our Japanese business partners, a lot of miscommunications happened due to cultural differences. To ensure the fruitful communication with our business partners I will encourage you all to have a look on the communication guidelines. Here are some communication guidelines. Don’t use person’s first name and always use san (which means Mr. or Ms.) with person’s last name. Japanese people prefer to use last name over first name.
