For the last couple of years, global warming has become an extremely important issue of my generation to me. Throughout high school, teachers would try to educate students on how to help the planet so it would not become destroyed in the next fifty years. The reaction of some students saddened me because they would just laugh off the whole discussion, saying they would not change their habits because they were too “lazy”. At the time, I decided that I would make small contributions by recycling more and trying not to liter. Becoming involved by just making small contributions made me feel like I was not harming the Earth as much as was possible, but I was wrong. Over Thanksgiving break of this year, my dad made me watch the documentary about global warming and the Earth, “An Inconvenient Truth”. I particularly did not want to watch this because I thought I knew what I needed to know about global warming, but my dad told me that I didn’t have to watch it, but it was up to my generation to change things and not his.
