Le Chatelier’s Principle 1) The purpose of the experiment was to experimentally determine how adding different ion solutions or heat affected the amount of products and reactants in a solution at equilibrium. The components at equilibrium in the solution consisted of 2 ¿ [ Co Cl 4 ] ¿ , 2 + ¿ [ Co ( H 2 O ) 6 ] ¿ , H 2 O and ¿ Cl ¿ . [ Co Cl 4 ] ( aq ) 2 ¿ + 6 H 2 O ( l ) 4 Cl ( aq ) ¿ ¿ [ Co ( H 2 O ) 6 ] ( aq ) 2 + ¿ + ¿ ¿ To test the effects stressing the equilibrium in different way, 5 test tubes were each filled with approximately 8 mL of a clear pink solution of 2 ¿ [ Co Cl 4 ] ¿ at concentration of 3.75 g/L in 95% ethanol. The first test tube had 2 mL of H 2 O added to the solution, which resulted in most of the pink tint fading while remaining clear. This indicated that the solution was driven towards making more reactants ( 2 + ¿ [ Co ( H 2 O ) 6 ] ¿ and ¿ Cl ¿ ]), as the pink tint was an indicator of 2 ¿ [ Co Cl 4 ] ¿ presence in the solution. The 2 nd test tube had 5 drops of 6 M H Cl added to the solution, which caused the clear solution to gain more color intensity with some blue added to the pink tint. This

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
