This preview shows page 1 - 2 out of 2 pages.

Chapter 1, Chapter 3, and Chapter 4 According to the textbook: 1. Public speaking and everyday conversation are similar because of the way we organize our thoughts, how we tailor our message to the audience, how we tell our story for maximum impact, and how quickly we can adapt to feedback from listeners 2. Public speaking and everyday conversation are different because public speaking is highly structured, public speaking requires formal language, and public speaking requires a different method of delivery 3. It’s normal and even desirable to be nervous at the beginning of a speech because your body produces extra adrenaline when you are responding to a stressful situation. This adrenaline is what makes your heart race, your hands shake, your knees knock, and your skin perspire. 4. You can control your nervousness by turning it into a positive nervousness and thinking of it a “stage excitement” or “stage enthusiasm”. It will help you stay focused and energized.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
