Running head: QUESTION SET 9 2 The obstacles in chapter thirteen of Introduction to Leadership: Concepts and Practice included unclear goals, unclear directions, low motivation, complex tasks, simple tasks, low involvement, and lack of challenge. The first challenge to a leader facing obstacles means identifying what those obstacles might be, while the second challenge forces the leader to make a decision on how to solve the obstacle. The book states “if a leader does this [identifies and solves obstacles], followers will be more motivated, productive, and satisfied with their work” (Northouse, 2018, p. 302). In my experience, I am effective at addressing obstacles such as unclear goals and low motivation, and weak at addressing a lack of challenge. Primarily, I excel at finding obstacles that involve unclear goals. I enjoy defining goals for others, and helping them succeed. I can see this when I help my sister with her homework; I
