JUVENILE TREATMENT VS. PUNISHMENT 2 The juvenile justice system is a controversial issue. People have countless views on whether or not a juvenile should receive treatment or punishment after committing a criminal offense. Over the past few years the opinions of juvenile punishments have changed. With changes in society feelings on juveniles and justice system has taken notice to those opinions. Treatment should override punishment in concerns to juveniles. More and more over the past few years our youth are participating in criminal activity. One need to look at the causes, strategies, and interventions designed to stop juvenile delinquency. This paper will discuss a detailed history of juvenile justice and varying approaches to its prevention, give an analysis of possible strategies, and interventions designed to stop juvenile delinquency.
