Subject: Final Exam Essay. Audience: Prof. Phillips. Purpose: To explain why a Composition-type writing ENC 1101-13298 course is necessary, beneficial, and productive 12/14/2017 for any educational major or field. Why English Composition is necessary, beneficial and productive for any educational major or field The world we live in is driven by language. From the text messages you send in the morning, to the books you study at night, the business contracts you sign, tutorials, instructions, and of course homework, it’s all what is referred to as “informational text.” In fact, about 90 percent of the words you read and write every day carry important information. In order to succeed, you don’t just need to know how to read and write. You must know how to read between the lines, how to compose, persuade, understand and respond. That’s the focus of English Composition. It is to empower you to interact with the world on your terms, in your own words. It might be the most important life skill any 21st-century person can have. If you don’t master at least the basics, you can expect to have a harder time getting ahead in school, in life and in business. Most people learn to write well in Composition class. Learning to express yourself concisely, accurately and convincingly is not simply a box to check on an assessment test or a grading rubric; if you hope to write emails that earn respect, to enter any career in which communication is essential or simply to speak with authority, learning to write well is very important.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
