Subject: Core IV Persuasive Essay. Audience: Classmates and Pr. Phillips. Purpose: To describe the danger of ENC 1101-13298 of texting while driving. 12/10/2017 The danger of texting while driving She was driving home after having a long day of school, her friends at her side when she got a text message. She thought about not checking it, but couldn’t wait until she got home. She picked up her phone and read the message. It was her mother. Her mother asked her to pick up some food for dinner. Everything was fine. She hit reply and started a message back. Twelve characters into the message she was in the other lane and another vehicle was coming, a truck. Her friends screamed. She slams on the breaks and swerves to try to miss the car. She rolls her car three times, landing in the ditch, where the car is upside down. Someone on the road calls 911. Police, ambulance, and fire trucks show up at the scene. Three days later a funeral was held for both of her friends and the other driver, her being the only survivor. Texting while driving is a serious danger not only to the driver but others alongside them on the road as well. Texting while driving impacts the lives of those around you. A single distraction while driving, as small and simple it may seem such as texting, can lead to the death of loved ones. When you are behind the wheel and you get a text message, is it worth to grab your phone and look at it? Texting while driving is one of the worrying trends in the society, both teenagers and adults have developed a habit of using cell phones while driving.
