Informative Speech Introduction I. Good afternoon classmates and Dr. Council. a. Can you imagine driving on the highway, when you hear the familiar text message ring tone. You start to think, “Maybe it’s my friend telling me something about school, or my mother, or what if there is an emergency?” It doesn’t look like traffic is going to be moving anytime soon, and knowing that it would only take a few seconds, to respond, you do. Before you realize, the car in front stops or the car behind accelerates and then there is an accident. Texting while driving is the worst of all driver distractions because it simultaneously uses cognitive, visual, and manual recognition. b. Since distracted while driving is one of the fastest growing problems in the United States and it is starting to be considered as serious as drunk driving based on the dangerous outcomes.   I will be addressing you why you should not text and drive and how it could impact you. Body I. In today’s society we’ve all become attached to our cell phones. Cell phones make our lives easier in many ways. Cell phones are considered such a necessity and the issue has ascended regarding the use of phones while driving. Phones have gotten even more complex and we use them as the means for communication by voice, text, sound, and video. Texting has grown to be one of the biggest forms of communication among people, even though some of these messages might be sent from behind the wheel of a moving vehicle. Texting while driving is a major issue affecting today’s society.
