Jerez Amsyar 2390191 BSAB 415 (Airline Management) Chapter 3, Question 7 Why does point-to-point service cost less to operate than connecting service through a hub? Point to point provide the least total travel time from origin to destination. It has no connecting flight. Its flights operate independently relieving the airline of the burden of synchronizing its flight schedule. Also, irregular operation on one flight does not disrupt other flight. This prevents additional costs from incurring. Point to point service is not complex to design. Also it has low passenger handling costs e.g. baggage and cargo transfer.
