November 9, 2018 From: Jennifer West To: Prof. Shehane Subj: Examination of Sedan Weight by Origin 1. Identify the issue . We would like to examine fuel efficiency in sedans to determine which models our company may decide to purchase for local deliveries. Targeting sedans that use less fuel can provide savings over time for the company, even if the initial purchase price is slightly higher. There are a number of factors that contribute to fuel efficiency, but the most obvious is the weight of the vehicle. The more weight the engine has to move, the more fuel it will consume for any given number of miles. Our investigation will answer the question, “Is the average weight of sedans in this dataset statistically similar regardless of origin?” From the results, we will have a decision if any sedan can be considered or if we should only consider models made in a specific country. 2. Analyze the issue . We analyzed the CARS dataset from SAS Studio. While the information was in sufficient form to run an ANOVA analysis filtered by Type = “Sedan” in SAS, we did have to export the file and manipulate it to run statistics and ANOVA in Excel. Once exported to Excel, I changed the data to table format and filtered to show only sedans. From here, I extracted the weights for each country of origin and listed them in

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
