Identify and explain research on effective coping mechanisms for stress. How do you believe these would help you in your everyday life? According to the World Health Organization, stress is the second most frequent health problem, impacting the health and well-being of millions of people. Researchers have documented the various ill health effects, like hypertension, as well as coping methods to decrease stress(Liza, 2011). According to Levy, an effective coping mechanism for stress is movement. It could be exercise, yoga, or even dancing to cope with stress. The stress triangle is an individual's head, neck, and shoulders. When someone’s muscles tighten up waste gets trapped in your muscles and can cause pain. Just simple exercises like neck roll, shoulder shrug, standing body roll, and pick fruit can help relieve the tension. Yoga is known to create flexibility of the body and peace of mind. Yoga is known to believe others by practicing controlled breathing, and meditation or relaxation. Just doing one pose for a few minutes can lower blood pressure and lower your heart rate. Dancing sounds peculiar to cope with stress but it does help. When someone is dancing it releases endorphins and neurotransmitters which help diminish their stress level. These chemicals which are within the brain send messages throughout the rest of the body (Levy, 2002).

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
