Why Pick Television News? Professor Kent Collins, Chairman 11/11/2007 22:42:00 KBIA is a non-commercial radio that is not supposed to make money. The profits from KOMU buy equipment, pay salaries for faculty for the J-School. KOMU is for relatively small markets. Almost everybody that is working at KOMU-TV is working for a grade. Suggested working at MU-TV to get started. It is usually shocking to international students and big city students that local television  focuses mainly on local news. KOMU tries to cover 16 counties everyday. Missourian is hyper-local meaning that its main focus is on local news. In larger cities newspaper and television station target the same area whereas local  newspaper tends to cover smaller area and television tends to cover a larger area. Mizzou knows more about convergence then any other school.
