PRINCIPLES OF ORGANIZATIONAL PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT 2 Principles of Organizational Performance Management Population Currently, the writer works as a clinical supervisor in a Critical Care Transport Unit for a tertiary care facility. The department is comprised of experienced RNs, Paramedics, and EMTs. The patients that are transported range from thirty days of life to death; these patients require a higher level of care or interventions that are not available at the current facility. These patients range from sepsis, respiratory failure, organ failure, cardiac arrest, cardiac failures, and specialty care that is not available currently. Necessary Processes When looking over the scorecard, there are multiple layers to reach the outcomes wanted.

PRINCIPLES OF ORGANIZATIONAL PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT 3 Performance: To improve the performance measure we would like to decrease the time from patient acceptance to dispatch of the Critical Care Transport Team. To reduce this time frame, there is a cross-disciplinary approach. The transfer center RN will implement a format for documenting the physician to physician conversation which will help to simplify and make documentation uniform. By having a more uniform composition, the acceptance to dispatch time will decrease due to information being easy to find by charge nurse or dispatcher and the appropriate unit can be dispatched. Utilizing a triaging algorithm will tag patients based on acuity and the need for immediate bed placement and immediate launch of the transport team. Incorporating an early launch system for those patients who are triaged as emergent, therefore the transport team will be dispatched before getting a bed assignment. By improving the time from acceptance of the patient to dispatch of the transport team, the length of hospital stay will be decreased due to getting the patient to needed resources sooner. Getting the patient to a higher level of care sooner will create better patient outcomes and improve patient and family satisfaction.
