BUDDHISM 2 Buddhism Dhammapada is a collection of sayings in Buddha scriptures. It is the most widely read and known Buddha scriptures (Minh Tam, 2018). It is important to note that the original version of Dhammapada includes Khuddaka Nikaya, which is a subsection of the Pali Canon of Theravada Buddhism. On the other hand, the Bhagavad Gita involves Hindu text which is considered to be sacred, and it is part of a larger epic known as “ Mahabharata”. One example of Bhagavad Gita is Yoga. Yoga is depicted in the Bhagavad Gita and it is known as the process through which an individual connects with the divine world. It is important to note that Dhammapada and Bhagavad Gita share various virtues. There include less desirable actions and non-attachment. Both Dhammapada and Bhagavad Gita concepts of religion shared the same belief that a person is the most esteemed elements of achieving self-actualization in the spiritual realm. However, the Bhagavad Gita virtues incorporate the existence of God which the Dhammapada remains silent about the existence of god (Florell & Nikhilananda, 1945).
